1.) Why do you think the snake hid itself? 


Ans - The snake had hidden within the coconut shell on seeing the narrator, as it was probably scared of him. 


2.) What did Raja do when he saw the snake going into the coconut shell?


When Raja saw the snake going into the coconut shell, he quickly covered the coconut shell with a stone.


 


3.) Why was Grandmother shocked? How did she react?


His grandmother is shocked to find a snake in the coconut shell. 


She immediately cried for help to which Raja’s grandfather came.


 


4.) Imagine you are Raja’s grandfather. Raja brings home a snake. How do you think you would react?


If I was Raja’s grandfather I would respond similarly. I would first dispose of the snake and would make him understand that snakes are venomous creatures.

Raja’s grandmother should listen to her grandson carefully first and then after knowing the whole situation she should cure him with some medicines

If Raja had been bitten by a snake instead of a bee and his grandmother assumed the latter then instead of taking him to the mystical man he could have been taken to a doctor. On visiting the doctor his ailment could be properly diagnosed and he would receive treatment for it.

Ans – Grandfather asked the old man to cure Raja of the snakebite.


2.) What two things did the old man do?


Ans – While Raja was seated on his grandfather’s lap the old man took some water from a brass vessel. Then he sat in front of them and chanted mantras.


3.) Why was everyone sad and silent?


Ans – Everyone thought Raja had been bitten by a snake and watched him being cured by the old man who chanted the mantras. They were worried about Raja and at the same time sad that he had to suffer all of this.


4.) Why did Raja’s grandfather send gifts to the old man?


Ans – Since Raja had been cured of the supposed snake bite by the old man, his grandfather sent gifts to him as a form of gratitude.


5.) Do you think the old man cured Raja? Give reasons for your answer.


Ans – I do not think the old man did anything effective in curing Raja’s ailment. Even if chanting mantras were a cure for snake bites it would still have been ineffective since Raja had been bitten by a bee


6.) If you were Raja would you keep quiet like him ?


I would speak up and try to inform my family members about what had happened to me. This would help me in getting proper treatment.
