(i) Valodya was better than Nicky in

No, it didn’t seem that Valodya was really proud of himself as Nicky himself was in doubt of validation of his own thoughts. When Valodya was given a tucked in a linen shirt for the first time, Nicky was unhappy for not having a shirt which eventually caused him jealousy and led him to think that he arranged his collar in showoff to annoy him. Nicky felt this way because of his sense of vanity.

No, it was not right to feel so, but at that tender age you don’t understand these complex feelings or moral values. It’s a complete responsibility of parents and the elder sibling (if possible) to make the younger siblings feelings validated.
That actually affected my relationship with my sister a bit but luckily my sister was very sensitive and protective of me, she understood me even before I reacted to anything and solved things.

1.) Who had a passion for ornaments?
Valodya had a passion for ornaments.
2.) How did the quarrel between the narrator and his brother start?
Nicky broke Valodya’s empty bottle of scent and instead of being sorry he was very casual about it which started the quarrel between the narrator and his brother.
3.) How did the scent bottle break?
Once when his passion for ornaments was at its height, Valodya once developed a passion for Ornaments and had his own desk of study. The little narrator went up to his table and accidentally broke an empty bright-coloured little scent bottle.
4.) Was the narrator sorry for his behaviour? How do you know?
The narrator was not sorry for his behaviour because instead of apologising he kept arguing with his brother. We know this because he said , “What does it matter.”
5.) What annoyed the narrator most?
The narrator was most annoyed when Valodya tried to drag him away from the table.
6.) What did the narrator do when Valodya dragged him?
Valodya pushed and tried to drag Nicky away from the table in anger but the narrator was lost in anger by now. Trying to maintain his position he got hold of the leg of the table and tipped it over. And all the china bottles and glass ornaments of Valodya’s were broken down by Nicky.
7.) If you were in the narrator’s place how would you have behaved?
It’s not easy to apologise even for your own fault that easily when you hold so much of a grudge against the other person, so if I was here, my reaction would have been the same as Nicky’s.

1.) How did Nicky feel after the day’s incident?
Nicky felt very scared, uncomfortable and ashamed to be alone with his brother because he realised that he did the wrong thing in the earlier incident.
2.) How was Valodya’s reaction different from that of Nicky?
Valodya behaved in a very normal way as he did his lessons properly and nothing of his awkwardness was noticed by the narrator.
3.) Why did Nicky feel uncomfortable and ashamed to be alone with his brother?
Nicky felt uncomfortable and ashamed because he knew he did wrong and was guilty of his actions. He was very scared to face his brother. He was afraid that the topic of their fight would surely come up when they were alone that he did not really know to deal with.
4.) How did Valodya show that he was keen to make friends with Nicky in spite of the day’s event?
Valodya, being an matured elder brother understood the reason for the rage of Nicky’s and went to him and apologised in a very natural voice.
5.) What does Valodya’s behaviour show about his character?
Valodya was a very large hearted, matured, loving and forgiving elder brother.
6.) What do the tears in Nicky’s eyes say about his feelings? Were they tears of joy, sorrow, anger or repentance? Please provide two reasons for your answer.
Nicky was not expecting Valodya to apologise that’s why Valodya’s initiative made Nicky very emotional. Nicky passed Valodya in the evening he wanted to be friends with him again but his grudge didn’t let him do that but surprisingly his brother came upfront and made the greater gesture even though the fault there was of Nicky’s, the tears of sorrow and repentance in his eyes evidently expressed his cordial feelings.
7.) What did Nicky do to show that he was sorry for all that he had done in the morning?
When Nicky passed Valodya in the evening he wanted to be friends with him again but his grudge didn’t let him do that. But when his elder brother came upfront and apologised to him showing a bigger heart, he couldn’t hold up his feelings anymore, they hugged, tears rolled down his cheeks and his heavy heart choked his voice as he also apologised to his brother.
8.) Imagine that you had a fight with your friend. How would you try and apologise and become friends again? Hint: It may help if you can recall a real incident.
I would call up that person and try to make normal conversations first and then I would apologise.
